just had a dream
Mar. 1st, 2008 10:55 amIn a world that is a mixture of Wild West and something else, the Quinn family finds a severely wounded unconscious man and takes him in to take care of him, not knowing who he is. When he awakes from his feverish dreams, he is only able to tell them his name is Edward. The youngest daughter of the Family, Kate, a tomboyish girl of approximately sixteen or seventeen years is assigned the task to take care of Edward and she starts to become interested in Edward's backstory. When he is healthier, they have long conversations but he never reveals much about himself. As he grows healthier, he is eager to make up for the unconveniences he has caused and becomes a working hand on the farm after shortly contemplating if he should leave. The news about a handsome helping hand on the Quinn farm spreads, leading to Jennifer, daughter of a rich family and very sure of herself, first meeting Edward in town. She becomes interested in Edward right away and flirts with him and he responds. They get together frequently and it is very likely that they have sex. The friendship between Edward and Kate remains although she is very hurt thinking that he might like Jennifer more than he likes her. Her father on the other hand is very happy about the motivated working hand and it helps that he seems to like another girl and will stay away from Kate. Months pass and Kate finally musters the courage to sneak into Edward's room at night and tell him how she feels about him. They kiss and start to spend time together in secret. Edward tells her the Jennifer was nothing but a distraction but continues to see her sporadically. One day, mysterious men show up in town, looking for Edward and when Edward hears about this, he packs his things, wants to leave. Kate finds him before he can do so and insists on going with him. A boy in town who Kate knows very well, an orphan about her age, is hired by Kate'e parents to find Edward and bring back Kate whom he cares about. He finds them several times but ends up helping them to flee from the men who are after Edward on occasion. Edward starts to try to convince Kate to go back home with Jake but refuses to. Finally, Edward drugs Kate and hands her over to Jake, telling him he doesn't want to put her in danger and prefers breaking her heart.
