The Dark Knight Rises

 I made a post saying that I couldn't see Heath Ledger as the Joker when that was first announced and we all know I was wrong because that performance was so utterly amazing. But I'm going to do the same thing with the Dark Knight Rises cast in hopes that the same thing happens and Christopher Nolan proves to be as amazing as I think he is.

The villain is Bane. Fucking Bane, one of the lamest villains of all time who broke Batman's back in the 90s and looks like a wrestler on steroids. He was in the Batman & Robin movie as a side-villain / lackey and he was basically a wrestler on steroids, not that that mattered because the movie was so bad anyway. And Shinzon is playing Bane. I've only seen Tom Hardy / Shinzon in Star Trek: Nemesis (a movie Matze thinks is amazing -- I disagree). He was the clone of Jean-Luc Picard and didn't really look anything like him. I think they just cast some bald guy. He wasn't that bad in it; I actually found him interesting and the picture of him on Wikipedia isn't bad. Can't see him as Bane though maybe that means that Nolan's Bane won't be a wrestler on steroids but something interesting? I can hope, right?

Anne Hathaway as Catwoman. Meh. She's hot, no doubt and she'll be a million times better than Halle Berry but I'm not sure. I think I would have been more receptive to that had I not found out about Bane first.

Holy cow, I hadn't even realized that Tom Hardy played Shinzon! He was quite good in Inception!

I didn't see Inception because nobody wanted to go with me. Tom Hardy's biography in general doesn't look bad but Bane, come on. I only know because wikipedia told me.

I raised my eyebrow at Bane as well, but by this point, Nolan's earned my trust. I'm taking a wait-and-see attitude.

yeah, Nolan can do no wrong in my book, but I'm an eternal skeptic. Couldn't he have picked ... I don't know, someone else? Maybe not the Ventriloquist, but there are other options. Huge Strange, maybe.

The rumor beforehand was that Hardy WAS going to play Strange, which I think is part of the reason everyone flipped the shit when it turned out to be Bane. Also, the fact that Bane is kind of a stupid character. ;)

There was a rumor? That makes it even worse. I want Strange or someone cool, not Bane. Nolan better not disappoint me.

Heath Ledger blew me away with his performance as the Joker. I think Nolan really knows what he's doing. I've been an Anne Hathaway fan since Princess Diaries so I hope she'll do well in this role too.

Heath Ledger was amazing and I hope that Nolan proves me wrong and Bane isn't a completely boring character in the movie. The actor makes me think he can pull off being interesting but Bane is such a shitty character.
