Die Physiker
May. 8th, 2007 07:56 pmI talked my dad into reading Friedrich Dürrenmatt's "Die Physiker", a play we are currently reading in German class and that I find very interesting. Now he's in bed with my copy of the book -- not what you're thinking, pervs -- reading it. I hope he's done by Friday or I'll have to borrow it then because I need it back for German class. I have a copy that was given to me in class as well and they are different versions, one hardcover and one softcover and the page numbers are different. Do not even ask why the fuck I need two copies of the same book in class, because I don't know myself. I wanted to hand the school's back in, but somehow I never got to it and now I'm keeping it till we all have to hand it in.
I enjoy what I have read of Dürrenmatt so far which was "Der Richter und sein Henker" and "Die Physiker". It's one of the books you are forced to read in German class that is actually readable. I was not able to read neither Schiller's "Maria Stuart" or "Wilhelm Tell", nor "Oedipus". And I won't even get into "Die Judenbuche", it's the worst book ever that I was ever forced to read and that is praised by critics. You really should click the link, it leads to an English tradition of the book which thankfully isn't very long.
I bought a new notebook today as my current one is almost out of space. When I first bought it without knowing the pages were blank, I was really annoyed by it, but after a while I started to realize how much more unrestricted you actually are when you have white paper. So, this time I was looking for a blank one again but wasn't able to find any which annoyed be. Well, better luck next time, I guess.
