Script Frenzy Day 11
Jun. 11th, 2007 11:56 pmScript Frenzy is driving me nuts.
See the figures below, I think they look nice in a table and I just want to ramble about today's experiences right now.
I wrote a scene for Jasmine as she hadn't made an appearance yet and the scene is basically between her and Tom because although he already had quite a bit of screentime, it made most sense to have him interact with her because I feel that the characters are so different that it's almost crazy to write it, partially because I plan on having an ongoing plotline between those two and this scene laid the groundwork for it I assume.
The scene led directly into a funnier scene with Tom in the bathroom that actually foreshadows some of Face's inner demons and that I loved when it was done. It is fun and has something deep to it at the same time.
So, I realized that I had already written enough for a script for a forty minute long episode and decided that I couldn't just go on because it wouldn't make any sense, so instead of writing more for Misfits 103 that is in fact complete, I have started writing Misfits 102 where Jane takes the center stage and there is a fiasco involving alcohol and that cements the path for elements of 103.
I know I should have started with 101 and gone from there, but somehow I felt like writing 103 and now 102. I think it might take a few episodes after this one until I decide to finally tackle the pilot because I have this impression that writing a pilot is so much more difficult, not because it's double-sized, but because so much has to be established in it.
I also made a change to the pilot that was originally supposed to focus on Dennis Lawson and on nobody else. I changed my mind about it and decided to have some sequences with Stella seeing the Therapist as well because it shows that there is another side to the story and because the two characters are so prominent and have this rivaling relationship.
And I am considering to have the very last scene to show Tyler's first session with the Therapist because she is so prominently featured in the pilot and it just sounds nice. Also, even though the first few episodes following the pilot focus on one character and not on two, maybe even three, I think that this would be the correct approach for the pilot because it is so much longer and there is so much ground to cover and it establishes that the Therapist will have sessions with different Misfits by having Tyler going to see him in the end of the episode when she is offered a spot on the team. It shows that this is not something that is exclusive to Dennis and Stella. It might limit Joseph's role somewhat, but I'm willing to risk that. He will become more prominent as the story progresses and he is not part of the main cast anyway. I am also getting the impression that Stella is slowly but surely working herself up from a recurring character to a main one, something I don't really have too many problems with as she is very important and such a stark contrast to Dennis in many ways.
And I need to write some more exposés for future episodes so I know more concretely where I am heading because as of right now, I know where I want to be at the end of the season, but I need to craft the path to this ending and by doing breakdowns of storyarcs and determinating what happens when, I might at least come to the conclusion of what length this season is going to be. I'm guessing on about 20+ episodes, not much more.

This month, I am at least finishing 102 and starting on 104 or 101, preferably the latter. It's so easy to write screenplays and I am enjoying it so much. Now I only need my Alpha Smart Neo until the end of this month so I can take it to Chile because I will really need it there.
